Salkantay Trek 5D/4N
Embark on one of the most breathtaking trekking adventures in Peru—the Salkantay Trek. This alternative route to Machu Picchu takes you through majestic snow-capped peaks, lush cloud forests, and remote Andean villages, offering a powerful connection with nature and Inca history. Recognized as one of the most scenic treks in the world, the Salkantay route is perfect for travelers seeking challenge, beauty, and unforgettable moments on their way to the legendary citadel of Machu Picchu.
Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake
Our adventure begins at 4:30 a.m., when we will pick you up from your hotel in private transportation. After a 2-hour drive, we’ll arrive at the town of Mollepata, where you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast. From there, we’ll continue for one more hour by vehicle until we reach Soraypampa, the starting point of our trek.
The first 30 minutes of the hike are fairly easy, with mostly flat terrain leading us to our first campsite. From there, we’ll begin our ascent to Humantay Lake, a steep hike of about 1 hour and 30 minutes. (We highly recommend the use of trekking poles.) This portion of the hike will serve as great acclimatization for the days ahead.
At the top, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of Humantay Lake, located beneath the majestic glacier of the same name. Considered sacred by local communities, this turquoise lake is one of the highlights of the trek. You’ll have plenty of time to explore and take stunning photos.
Afterward, we’ll descend along the same path back to the campsite, where a delicious lunch prepared by our chef will be waiting for you. In the afternoon, we’ll introduce the support team who will accompany you throughout the journey: our experienced local guide, head chef, and horsemen. You’ll then have time to rest and recharge for the next day. This first day is relatively short, which is ideal for helping you adjust to the altitude and ensuring you're well-prepared to enjoy the more challenging days ahead.-
