The Short Inca Trail is a perfect option for travelers who want to experience the legendary Inca Trail in a shorter time. This trek combines beautiful mountain landscapes, important Inca archaeological sites, and the unforgettable arrival at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate, followed by a guided visit and an overnight stay in Aguas Calientes.
Cusco – Km 104 – Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes
Early in the morning at 4:00 AM, we will pick up all passengers from their hotels and travel to Ollantaytambo, where we will take the train to Km 104 (approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes). Upon arrival at Km 104, we will begin our hike, ascending for about 3.5 hours toward Wiñay Wayna, enjoying beautiful landscapes and views of the sacred Wilkanota River, with plenty of opportunities to take photographs along the way.
At the Wiñay Wayna archaeological site, your guide will explain its historical and cultural significance. After enjoying a delicious boxed lunch, we will continue along the classic Inca Trail to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), from where we will have breathtaking and unforgettable views of the Machu Picchu Citadel. After enjoying the scenery, we will descend the trail for about one hour toward Machu Picchu to continue with the next part of the tour.
From Machu Picchu, where you will have a guided tour (Circuit 1 – Upper Terrace Route), we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes. We will then take a 30-minute bus ride and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, you will enjoy a delicious dinner with your tour guide, who will also explain the itinerary for the second day.
